Javelinas Behind Backyard

My dogs started going crazy barking and howling. I went to go check what was going on. When I looked out back, there was a pack of Javelinas walking along the fence line of my backyard. There must have been about 15 of them in total.

Baby Rattlesnake

While cooking some burgers, I decided to let the dogs out into the bigger part of the backyard. Once the food was ready, the dogs got locked in the patio while we ate our food. During my meal I looked out and noticed that Roxy had a lump under her chin. We went out to investigate and found another lump and a puncture on the right side of her nose. We called the Northwest pet clinic but on the way we noticed a second puncture on the top of her nose so we knew it was a snake and decided to take her to the Emergency where they had anti venom. Sure enough, the vet confirmed that it was a rattlesnake bite the venom was starting to spread, so they gave her the anti venom and kept her overnight but felt that her recovery was promising due to the smaller size of the swelling and the location of the bite. We picked her up the next day and were given some pain medicine and she should be just fine. In two weeks she will be back to normal. Total cost: $1372.00

Gila Monster in Garage

After getting home one day, we noticed a gile monster next to our garage. Since we noticed him just as we were opening the garage, he saw the opportunity to run into the garage and hide under one of the desks. Since Gila Monsters are protected under Federal law, we knew not to kill it and instead called the Fire Department. The Fire Department came out with a bucket and grabber tool and grabbed him and threw him in the bucket. However, they explained to us that they were not allowed to take him into another area so they took him out to the desert area near our very own mail box and released him back into the wild. At least no one got injured.
